Ultrasound is a procedure in which high-energy sound waves are bounced off internal tissues or organs and make echoes. The echo patterns are shown on the screen of an ultrasound machine, forming a picture of body tissues called a sonogram. Also called ultrasonography.

World's first drug eluting bioresorbable vascular scaffold receives CE Mark approval

Abbott announced today that it has received CE Mark approval for the world's first drug eluting bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) for the treatment of coronary artery disease. Abbott's BVS device restores blood flow by opening a clogged vessel and providing support to the vessel until the device dissolves within approximately two years, leaving patients with a treated vessel free of a permanent metallic implant. Abbott's BVS device will be commercialized under the brand name ABSORB.

RadNet, a national leader in providing high-quality, cost-effective, fixed-site outpatient diagnostic imaging services through a network of 200 fully-owned and operated outpatient imaging centers, today reported it has completed the acquisition from Presgar Imaging and affiliated entities of imaging centers in Brooklyn and Orchard Park, New York for cash consideration of $2.2 million plus the assumption of approximately $700,000 of debt.

EDAP reduces outstanding debt by $4.6 million

EDAP TMS SA, the global leader in therapeutic ultrasound, announced today that it entered into agreements with certain holders of its senior debentures and warrants to redeem part of EDAP's outstanding convertible debt and cancel some of its outstanding warrants. Pursuant to these agreements, the Company issued 1,441,743 ordinary shares in the form of American Depositary Shares in exchange for 4,558 senior debentures (equivalent to USD 4,558,000) and 986,965 warrants, reducing the current outstanding debt by USD 4.6 million to USD 10.5 million.
