The Pi Sentinel PRO Shape Module (Pi SM) from Vision Analytical adds the potential of comprehensive particle shape analysis to laser diffraction and other similar size-only wet suspension technologies.
Besides determining particle size information, the Pi SM also reports up to 30 shape-related measures like size, as well as images of all measured samples.
The Pi SM has been configured in a way that it can be easily added to the fluidics line of users’ existing instrumentation. The system includes an all-in-one Windows-based computer for steadfast control of the Pi SM. The computer also provides a real-time display of particle images.
Once the analysis is done, users can match the particle size results from their traditional size-only instrument and the shape module.
The Pi SM has specifically been designed as an add-on component to size-only measurement techniques. The Pi SM can be added to users’ existing systems, thereby enabling the measurement of the same aliquot of sample for both systems.
A majority of the commercially available techniques assume particles to be spherical in nature while reporting the results; therefore, access to more shape information and particle images together with the results of existing techniques enables users to gain a better understanding of the particles and their performance during their final use.
