VSP launches mobile version for members to access vision care information

VSP® Vision Care today launched the mobile version of vsp.com that allows members to access their vision care information from anywhere. Using a smartphone device, VSP members have access to features including: find a doctor, check your benefits, access your vision card and browse the eyewear gallery.

Mobile members can locate the nearest VSP network doctor leveraging GPS capabilities and utilize the 'click to call' functionality to schedule their appointment, anytime, anywhere. In addition to connecting with their eye doctors, members can also view their benefits – even while seated at their doctor's office.

"Since an ever increasing number of people are using smartphones to navigate their daily lives, we decided to make it possible for our members to find a VSP network doctor and check their vision benefits there too," said Gary Brooks, President, VSP Vision Care. "Making this information easy to access is just one more way to make their experience with VSP even better."

As smartphone adoption grows, so does the importance of having a mobile-compatible Web experience. VSP entered into a one-year contract with Usablenet, a global technology leader for multichannel customer engagement, to create a mobile version of vsp.com.

"By extending its core Web functionality to mobile, VSP engages with members on-the-go and allows them to easily access vision care resources and nearby doctors," said Nick Taylor, President of Usablenet. "Powered by Usablenet's platform, VSP's mobile website supports all relevant features from the traditional website on every Web-enabled phone."
