Questions raised over cost of, funding for Obama administration's AIDS blueprint

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday announced the Obama administration's "President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Blueprint: Creating an AIDS-free Generation", which calls for a combination of prevention strategies including widespread treatment, "male circumcision, condom distribution and stopping transmission from mother to child," NPR's "Shots" blog reports.

As part of its series titled "The State of HIV/AIDS," GlobalPost published two stories examining the epidemic in different regions of the world. Viewpoints: Disputing Obama's and GOP's commitment to cutting spending and avoiding fiscal cliff

President Obama has said he wants to reform entitlements eventually, someday, after Republicans raise taxes. Republicans want the President to sign on to serious reform now as part of any deal, since AARP and the left will kill anything that isn't passed immediately. Given the political difficulty of reforming entitlements, Republicans are right to try to get Mr. Obama's fingerprints on such a deal this year.
