AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini: The versatile compact halogen light source for precise wavelength control

The AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini performs best in visible light and near-infrared. The AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini is a tiny, stabilized halogen light source with adjustable fiber connection focusing, which maximizes output power at the chosen wavelength. Aside from that, this adaptable light source offers an adjustable electrical power output to provide more power or extend bulb life.

The AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini has a filter slot on the front that accepts 1” round or 2”×2” square filters for blocking certain wavelengths or lowering intensity instantaneously.

The AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini’s adjustable focus allows users to get the most out of the light source by transmitting as much power as possible over the optical fiber. Bulb change takes only a few minutes.

A combined direct-attach cuvette holder and attenuator (CUV-ATT-DA-HAL) is provided as an option. Use either the in-line filter holder (FH-INLINE) or the in-line attenuator (ATT-INL) for attenuation.

The optical output can be regulated using a dongle on the backside or the spectrometer. At its lowest setting, the light bulb has a color temperature of 2647 K but a far longer lifespan.

The standard or medium option raises the color temperature to 2759 K and adds approximately 30% more power, with a bulb life of 2000 hours. The high-power option provides a color temperature of 2879 K, approximately 70% more power than the long-life level, but reduces the bulb’s lifetime.

The AvaLight-HAL-S-Mini includes an inbuilt TTL shutter that can be controlled with the AvaSpec spectrometer. This allows users to use the automatic save dark feature in the AvaSoft spectroscopy software.
