All analytical instrumentation is typically situated centrally in a Quality Control laboratory. This drawback results in the need to collect samples in the field or plant and send them to the chief laboratory where they must stay until examined. As soon as the analysis is done, the results are analyzed and decisions can be made with regard to the process under analysis.
A delay ranging from several hours to several days could be expected. For certain samples, this delay can lead to changes in the formulation or condition of the sample, which makes the analysis not representative of what occurs in the field in real-time.
