Physitemp’s Vibratron II Vibration Sensitivity Tester provides a non-invasive way to measure the vibration sensitivity of a patient’s hands and feet. This test takes only minutes to achieve reliable quantitative measurements. A two-alternative forced choice procedure is used to measure the degree of sensitivity.
Lightweight, Sturdy Equipment
The vibration sensitivity tester contains two separate vibrating rods and a small controller. Vibration amplitude is displayed on the digital front panel and it can be continuously adjusted using output control.
Vibratron II is available in two ranges:
- For low resolution, 6.5 - 19.9 vibration units correspond to the 0 - 200 µm
- For fine control, 0 - 6.5 vibration units correspond to 0 - 20 µm
A table and a formula are given for conversion of
Possible environmental applications:
- Evaluating workers for job-related cumulative trauma disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome
- Screening various subjects to identify effects of exposure to neurotoxins - industrial accidents, toxic dump sites, and solvents in chemical plants
Clinically it is intended for use for:
- Early detection of sensory loss caused by drug therapy
- Early detection and monitoring of sensory loss caused by diseases like diabetes and alcoholism.
- Evaluation of nerve recovery following hand surgery
- Evaluation of nerve recovery following cessation of drug therapy or other treatment
Features
The key features of the Vibratron II Vibration Sensitivity Tester are as follows:
- Assess peripheral nerve function
- Monitor peripheral neuropathy
- Field studies or clinical testing
