Repros receives US patent for Androxal

Repros Therapeutics Inc. today announced the US Patent and Trademark office has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,759,360 for Androxal, the Company's lead program for the treatment of low testosterone in men. This patent specifically claims methods and materials for the treatment of testosterone deficiency in men with secondary hypogonadism. Repros has over 35 issued or pending US and European patents involving Androxal.

Silence Therapeutics receives patent for RNA silencing method

Silence Therapeutics plc announces the issuance of United States patent 7,772,203, titled "Methods and Compositions for Controlling Efficacy of RNA Silencing," by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The issued patent generally claims methods of enhancing RNA silencing with a double stranded RNA interference (RNAi) agent. The patent's RNA silencing method claims include coverage for the administering of a pharmaceutical composition containing short interfering RNA (siRNA), micro RNA (miRNA), pre-miRNA or short hairpin (shRNA) molecules. Silence believes the proprietary structural modification techniques covered in this patent will play a key role in increasing the potential therapeutic efficacy of RNAi therapeutics.

GenSpera issued additional patent for G-202

GenSpera, Inc. announced that its patent application, entitled "Tissue Specific Prodrugs," has been issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office as US Patent 7,767,648. The patent covers the method of use for G-202, GenSpera's lead oncology drug, which is currently in a Phase I clinical study treating cancer patients whose disease has progressed after other treatments.

Entelos receives patent for PhysioLab virtual patient technology

Entelos, Inc. today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,774,182, entitled "Apparatus and Method for Validating a Computer Model." Immunomedics receives additional patent for CD74 target

Immunomedics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing monoclonal antibodies to treat cancer and other serious diseases, today announced that additional claims for the patent family "Internalizing anti-CD74 antibodies and methods of use," were issued as U.S. Patent No. 7,772,373. The new patent, which will expire in March 2023, covers any humanized antibodies that compete for binding to CD74 with milatuzumab, or bind to the same epitope as milatuzumab.

Protagen granted Notice of Allowance in Japan for key method patent for identifying and selecting clones

Protagen AG, a specialist for in-vitro diagnostics and GMP-compliant protein analysis, announced today that it received a Notice of Allowance by the Japanese Patent Office stating a favourable decision for the patent application 2000-547262 developed at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Germany. This patent claims broadly a method for identifying and selecting clones relating to the basic UNIclone® technology and is already granted in Europe with the publication number EP1073770 B1.

Intellect Neurosciences receives patent for Alzheimer's disease vaccine

Intellect Neurosciences, Inc a biopharmaceutical company with an internal preclinical and clinical-stage pipeline and licenses with major pharmaceutical companies covering products in late-stage clinical trials, announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office related to RV01 and RV02, the Company's two lead vaccine candidates. The Notice of Allowance is a written communication stating that the patent application has been allowed and will be granted as a new patent. RV01 and RV02, generated using the Company's RECALL-VAX technology, have the potential to delay the onset of or prevent Alzheimer's disease in individuals susceptible by age, genetic or other risk factor.

Stoecker and Associates develops new software for early diagnosis of malignant melanoma

Detection of malignant melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, will soon be quicker and easier thanks to the work of researchers at Missouri University of Science and Technology.The research, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, recently received a patent titled "Automatic Detection of Critical Dermoscopy Features for Malignant Melanoma Diagnosis." The patent applies to a method for computer-aided analysis of photographs of skin lesions to detect the cancer. Melanoma can be cured if it is diagnosed early enough.

MabCure files provisional patent application for ovarian cancer diagnostic antibodies

Biotechnology company MabCure, Inc. today announced the company has filed a provisional patent application for its ovarian cancer diagnostic antibodies with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The filing was based on positive results of a recent study that showed MabCure's tumor-specific monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) successfully identified ovarian cancer in blood (94 percent) and distinguished it from benign tumors of the ovaries or healthy blood obtained from men and women.
