Roche NimbleGen and High Throughput Genomics enter into a supply agreement

Roche NimbleGen and High Throughput Genomics, Inc. (HTG), provider of the quantitative Nuclease Protection Assay (qNPA), have entered into a supply agreement. Under the agreement, Roche NimbleGen will provide HTG with high density, multiplex DNA microarray slides for advanced gene expression analysis.

A class action lawsuit (Case #BC4241898) was just filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Cedars Sinai Medical Center, GE Healthcare, Inc., and GE Healthcare Technologies on behalf of patients who received 8-times the approved dosage of radiation during their CT brain perfusion scans to diagnose strokes.

New public health tool to identify all Tier 1 candidates for H1N1 vaccination

Practice Fusion Inc. NIH grant for Lpath to advance clinical development of its antibody therapeutics

The National Cancer Institute's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program has awarded Lpath (OTCBB: LPTN), the category leader in lipidomics-based therapeutics, two Phase 1 grants totaling $0.3 million. This follows a series of other SBIR grants awarded to Lpath totaling $6.9 million, including a $3.0 million Phase 2 bridge grant from the NCI awarded this past June.

CCS is the largest funder of childhood and adolescent cancer research in the charitable sector

A new report released today by the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance reveals that the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is the largest funder of childhood and adolescent cancer research in the charitable sector, contributing 23 per cent of total funding. The B.C. and Yukon division of the CCS contributes more than 40 per cent of that funding through donations from Cops for Cancer.

Novo Nordisk's Levemir not associated with increase in the incidence of cancer

A meta-analysis of clinical data published today in Diabetologia, the medical journal for the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), demonstrated that the Novo Nordisk long-acting insulin Levemir® (insulin detemir [rDNA origin] injection) was not associated with any increase in the incidence of cancer when compared to human insulin.
