Champions Biotechnology expands collaboration to accelerate oncology drug development

Champions Biotechnology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CSBR), a company with a predictive preclinical platform aimed at accelerating the development and enhancing the value of oncology drugs, has established an agreement with Ortho Biotech Oncology Research & Development, a Division of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, for the evaluation of a novel preclinical oncology therapeutic in Champions' Biomerk Tumorgraft(TM) platform.

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics to present Phase I clinical trial data of ICT-107 vaccine in New Orleans

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd. (OTCBB: IMUC), a clinical-stage biotechnology company that is developing immune-based therapies for the treatment of brain and other cancers, today announced that it will be presenting today, at the Annual Meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in New Orleans, Louisiana at 3:15pm central time, data from its Phase I clinical trial investigating the role that its ICT-107 vaccine may play in increasing patient survival and inhibiting tumor progression in patients with glioblastoma, the most common and most aggressive type of primary brain tumor.

As winter weather approaches and we move activities indoors, it's a good time to think about the quality of the air in our homes. Radon is a colourless, odourless gas that is produced from the natural breakdown of uranium in rocks and soil. Radon can enter a home through tiny openings in floors and foundations and build up to dangerous levels. Long-term exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada.

Results from Phase I dose-escalation study of AT-101 announced

Ascenta Therapeutics announced today that encouraging results from a Phase I dose-escalation study of two combination therapy regimens containing AT-101, an oral, pan-Bcl-2 inhibitor, in patients with the most malignant type of brain tumor, were described in an oral presentation at the 2009 Joint Meeting of the Society for NeuroOncology (SNO) and AANS/CNS Section on Tumors in New Orleans, Louisiana (Concurrent Session VI: Radiation Oncology, October 23, 2009; Abstract # 449).

Japanese Patent granted for Pharmalink AB's Nefecon

Pharmalink AB announced today that it has been granted Japanese Patent No 4326696, "Methods and means for treating glomerulonephritis" for its product Nefecon(R) which is being developed to treat IgA nephropathy, a glomerulonephritis leading to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Counterparts of the patent have been issued for other territories including the EU, US and China.
