She has been married 34 years, is the mother of four sons and grandmother of two little girls. But there is nothing average about Terie Cota because she chose to do something few others would think to do: She donated one of her healthy kidneys to a total stranger.

The more leave time from work that a woman takes after giving birth -- up to six months -- the better protected she will be from experiencing post-partum depression, according to a study led by Dr. Rada K. Human error: The most common cause of infant asphyxiation at birth

Findings from a 15-year study published in Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, a journal of the Nordic Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology, indicate that human error is the most common cause of infant asphyxiation at birth. Inadequate fetal monitoring, lack of clinical skills, and failure to obtain senior medical staff assistance are most often cited in Norwegian compensation claims following birth asphyxia.

InControl Medical supports urinary incontinence awareness effort of Women's Health Foundation

According to a new survey endorsed by the Women's Health Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing education, funding and research to the field of women's pelvic health, seven out of ten (69%) American women ages 45 or older may not recognize that incontinence may be a signal of a bladder health problem. To raise awareness of this issue among women everywhere, the Foundation has declared November to be Bladder Health Awareness Month.
