It has been thought that the loss of physical and psychological function after traumatic brain injury is closely related to injuries in brain structures. However, in the current edition of Deutsches -rzteblatt International (Dtsch Arztebl Int 2010; 107[12]: 199-205), Rainer Scheid and D. Yves von Cramon conclude that this is not the case.

Eisai seeks simultaneous approval of eribulin mesylate in U.S., EU and Japan

Eisai Inc. today announced that it has submitted simultaneous regulatory applications for approval of eribulin mesylate (also known as E7389) for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer to agencies in Japan, the United States and the European Union (EU). Eribulin, a non-taxane microtubule dynamics inhibitor, is an investigational chemical compound discovered and developed by Eisai.

Study results of Medtronic DBS Therapy for epilepsy published in Epilepsia

SANTE study: Deep brain stimulation can reduce seizures

A recent study organized by Stanford University researchers found patients with refractory partial and secondarily generalized seizures had a reduction in seizures after deep brain stimulation. This multi-center clinical trial determined that the benefits of stimulation of the anterior nuclei of thalamus for epilepsy (SANTE) persisted and by 2 years there was a 56% reduction in seizure frequency.
