Rituxan improves patients with previously untreated CLL, shows Phase III study CLL8

Roche announced today at the 51st Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in New Orleans, LA (USA) that the pivotal Phase III study CLL8 showed that patients with previously-untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) survived their disease longer when treated with Rituxan (rituximab) compared to chemotherapy alone.

GSK updates long-term survival data of BEXXAR Therapeutic Regimen for Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

GlaxoSmithKline announced today updated long-term survival data from two Phase II studies of BEXXAR® (tositumomab and iodine I-131 tositumomab) used in either patients with previously untreated cancer of the immune system (follicular lymphoma) or in patients with cancer of the lymphocytes (non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, NHL) that no longer responded to rituximab.

Pixantrone demonstrates substantial reduction in cardiac cell toxicity compared to anthracyclines

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. announced today an abstract to be published online at the journal Blood website by M. Hacker, et al. demonstrating significant reduction in cardiac cell toxicity with pixantrone compared to currently marketed anthracyclines. The authors conclude that the reduction is due to pixantrone's inability to generate toxic drug iron complexes and reduced propensity to generate oxygen free radicals.

ImmunoGen's SAR3419 holds hope for B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma

ImmunoGen, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that develops targeted anticancer therapeutics, today announced the presentation of encouraging initial clinical findings with SAR3419 at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) 51st Annual Meeting and Exposition. Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today reported a new analysis of data from the Company’s pivotal PROPEL trial of FOLOTYN™ (pralatrexate injection) in patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). This indication is based on overall response rate. Clinical benefit such as improvement in progression free survival or overall survival has not been demonstrated.
