Absorption Pharmaceuticals LLC in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente announced today the initiation of a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Promescent lidocaine spray for men with premature ejaculation. This Phase III, double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study will measure the intravaginal ejaculatory latency time for subjects aged 18 and older.

The study of this mechanism has led to a new understanding of the important link between ED and the development of coronary artery disease, and to new strategies for prevention and treatment, as described in Journal of Men's Health, a peer-reviewed publication from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers.

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals' XIAFLEX gets FDA approval for treatment of Peyronie's disease

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a fully integrated specialty biopharmaceutical company, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved XIAFLEX (collagenase clostridium histolyticum, or CCH), an in-office, biologic for the treatment of Peyronie's disease. XIAFLEX is the first and only FDA-approved treatment proven effective for PD in men with a palpable plaque and a curvature deformity of 30 degrees or greater at the start of therapy.

Findings may help scientists better understand prognosis of advanced prostate cancer

Many patients diagnosed with prostate cancer have indolent, slow-growing forms of the disease that are not life-threatening. However, more than 30,000 American men will die from aggressive prostate cancer this year alone. This sharp contrast between low-risk and aggressive disease presents a challenge for many researchers and physicians as they diagnose patients and also determine the prognosis of the men with the most aggressive forms of prostate cancer.
