Her main area of focus was Preventative and Community Medicine, and Infectious Diseases. She has done a major project on the Primary Health Centers of India, where she served for months and analyzed the day to day workings of the health centre and submitted a comprehensive field report of it. Being fond of community medicine and outreach programs, she has administered preventative dental measures to the young children of the city slums and local schools.

She presented a Scientific Paper titled ‘Intra Oral Camera’ at the National BDS Student Convention of IAOMR 2015 and another research paper titled ‘Role of Tobacco’ at the National IAOMR UG Convention 2016.  Her work also comprised of the real-world challenges faced in tobacco de-addiction and the means to combat them.

She frequently volunteers at the Assam Autism Foundation and loves to teach children with autism about science and medicine. She has always been passionate about community health and believes in easy access to scientific information. She hopes to do her bit to make science communication easy and create intrigue in children and young adults about medical sciences.

Along with preventative medicine, she is passionate about mental health. She has obtained certification on the course ‘Introduction to Psychology’ from the University of Toronto and ‘Applications and Interventions in Positive Psychology’ from the University of Pennsylvania. She applies these Positive Psychology lessons in her everyday life.  Inspired by the Psychology course, she worked on a project on child abuse and neglect and the signs to recognize it in a clinical setting. This work was well-received by her peers and was an important educational feat in her undergraduate institution.

Akanksha loves to learn, from dental sciences to psychology. She wants to pass on this knowledge to everyone she interacts with. During her free time, she loves to craft all things décor, paint and is currently learning the art of pottery.
