Watson, Natco confirm development agreement for generic Revlimid

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Natco Pharma Limited today confirmed an exclusive, U.S. development and license agreement, to develop and commercialize lenalidomide 5, 10, 15 and 25 mg tablets. The companies also confirmed that Natco has filed an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seeking approval to market its lenalidomide 5, 10, 15 and 25 mg product. Natco's lenalidomide tablets are generic versions of Celgene's Revlimid ® Tablets.

Consolidation treatment with Y-90 epratuzumab after R-CHOP improves remission in DLBCL lymphoma

Immunomedics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development of monoclonal antibody-based products for the targeted treatment of cancer, autoimmune and other serious diseases, today reported that consolidation treatment with fractionated yttrium-90 (Y-90) labeled epratuzumab, after induction therapy with rituximab and CHOP (R-CHOP) chemotherapy, improved remission status of adult patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a form of aggressive lymphoma.

Micromet announces presentation of updated results from MT103 Phase 2 trial in MRD positive ALL patients

Micromet, Inc. today announced the presentation of updated results from a Phase 2 trial of the Company's lead product candidate blinatumomab (MT103) in adult patients with minimal residual disease (MRD) positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). An analysis of long-term efficacy data demonstrated that blinatumomab produced prolonged remissions in patients with ALL. As of November 2010, the hematologic disease free survival (DFS) was 60%, with a follow-up of up to 27.5 months.

Data from comparative REVLIMID study in multiple myeloma presented at 52nd ASH

Celgene International Sàrl today announced that data from a randomised clinical study conducted by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) were presented at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology comparing REVLIMID® (lenalidomide) plus low-dose dexamethasone (Rd) to lenalidomide plus high-dose dexamethasone (RD) in both younger and older newly-diagnosed multiple myeloma patients (NDMM).

Breast cancer patients taking tamoxifen anxious to have CYP2D6 genetic test

While the medical community continues to debate the benefits of CYP2D6 genetic testing for women on the breast cancer treatment tamoxifen, patients using the medication are anxious to have the tests. According to a new survey of more than 700 women with breast cancer currently taking tamoxifen, almost 80 percent of respondents would choose to have a genetic test that determines CYP2D6 genotype, yet only 14 percent of these women have been tested. CYP2D6 is an enzyme that influences how well the body processes tamoxifen into its more active form.

Phase 1 study results of Aduro BioTech's CRS-207 presented at AACR Conference on Tumor Immunology

Aduro BioTech, a clinical-stage immunotherapy company, is pleased to announce the presentation of the CRS-207 Phase 1 study at the AACR Special Conference on Tumor Immunology in Miami, Florida by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Dung Le of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Dr. Le reported that CRS-207 intravenous administration was well tolerated in subjects with advanced, treatment-refractory cancers. Dr. Le also reported evidence of immune activation and that 6 out of 17 end-stage cancer patients lived 15 months or longer.

Intellipharmaceutics files generic 30 mg Focalin XR ANDA with FDA

Intellipharmaceutics International Inc., today announced that it has filed an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval to market a generic of the 30 mg strength of Focalin XR® (dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride). The application for the 30 mg strength is filed as an amendment to the ANDA that Intellipharmaceutics had previously filed for the 5, 10, 15 and 20 mg strengths of the drug.

An expansion of soybean production into areas where soybean has seldom, if ever, been grown can be problematic for some farmers. Soils having high pH values and large amounts of calcium and/or magnesium carbonate are notoriously iron deficient. Iron deficient soils in the North Central United States are estimated to reduce soy bean production by 12.5 million bushels every year. .
