Australian health heavyweight moves into China

Global health and security assistance provider MedAire, Inc. has signed a letter of intent with the Beijing International Heart Hospital (BIHH) to develop an integrated outpatient medical clinic and response center in Beijing.

The clinic, which will be operated by MedAire's subsidiary Global Doctor Ltd., will provide specialty outpatient, primary and urgent care services to Chinese consumers, expatriates and business travelers in Beijing.

Scheduled to open later this year, the new Global Doctor clinic is being developed in cooperation with the Beijing International Heart Hospital. BIHH is the first foreign-owned, private, state-of-the-art cardiovascular specialty hospital in China.

In addition to outpatient services, Global Doctor will operate a response center from within the clinic that will coordinate assistance services and emergency medical evacuations throughout China and North Asia. "This project emphasizes MedAire's commitment to growing our business and presence in Asia and providing truly unique health care solutions to our global client base," said Robert F. Valente, MedAire's senior vice president of global services." Through its network of Global Doctor clinics, MedAire provides international standard medical care, telemedicine and assistance services in China, Indonesia and Thailand. The clinics are located in Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Chengdu, Bangkok and Jakarta.
