The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services has released three comprehensive reports on cigarette smoking.
Two analyze indoor smoking policies in the state’s work places, and in bars and restaurants, and one examines tobacco dependence treatment and referral practices among New Jersey health care providers.
The reports were based on surveys conducted between July 2001 and November 2002. They were prepared by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Public Health, and provide baseline measurements as well as recommendations for maximizing the effectiveness of New Jersey’s Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program (CTCP).
New Jersey’s CTCP is designed to reduce the sickness, disability, and death among New Jersey residents associated with the use of tobacco and exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
