USPTO issues patent for methodologies for abating a broad range of allergens, pathogens, viruses, bacteria

The United States Patent & Trademark Office issued a patent for an environmentally "Green" low cost process that eliminates the effects of a broad range of pollutants using oxidants.

The patent includes methods for abating pollutants, bacteria, viruses, mold, dander and dust mite allergens, funguses, as well as animal, chemical and smoke odors. In contrast with previous processes, there is a significant increase in efficacy accompanied by a major reduction in labor cost and the complete elimination of the transport and use of hazardous chemicals.

Prosecution of the patent was handled by Rose Thiessen, Ph.D., partner at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP. Knobbe Martens has represented Prompt Care, Inc. in its intellectual property matters since 2002. The patent embodies a broad range of applications in the Medical/Health Care (Operating Room sterilization), Homeland Security (SARS and anthrax), Disaster Recovery (fire and flood odors and mold), Travel & Leisure (Cruise Ship Viruses), Real Estate, Home and Building Maintenance (allergens, mold, smoke and chemical odors) and other Indoor Air Quality markets.

Henry Fishman, M.D., Allergist and Immunologist based in Washington, DC and Member of Prompt Care's Board of Directors since 2001, stated, "I believe this process can help tens of millions of allergy, asthma, and sinus sufferers improve their health. To my knowledge, it is the first major breakthrough in treating indoor air quality problems and allergies in decades."

According to J. Ross Cumberland, V. P. -- Engineering, "During the process's market validation phase more than 1500 structures were treated for a wide variety of allergens and pollutants, employing several improved process iterations and five generations of equipment evolution, marketed as FreshStart by Prompt Care(R)." Prompt Care's Chairman, David W. Brandmeyer stated, "We are currently looking for both public and private organizations that will benefit from this cost saving environmental advance, to develop additional specific applications, protocols and equipment to support partnering, cooperative ventures, teaming and licensing opportunities."
