Four medical groups of Resurrection Health Care Preferred earn nine blue stars in the 2009 Blue Star Report

Three out of four medical groups of Resurrection Health Care Preferred (RHCP) have earned nine blue stars, a perfect score, in the 2009 Blue Star Report -- an annual ranking of doctors in medical groups from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. The Resurrection Health Care Preferred groups earning nine stars are: Saint Joseph Health Preferred, Saint Mary and Elizabeth Health Preferred and Saint Francis Health Preferred. One group, Resurrection Health Preferred, earned a near perfect 8 out of 9 stars.

Don Franke, Senior Vice President of Managed Care, Resurrection Health Care, said, "I am very pleased that Resurrection Health Care Preferred has groups that have earned perfect scores. It is an honor to be recognized because it is our goal to provide outstanding patient care."

The Blue Star Report is a tool used to rate doctors' patient care performance. The medical groups doctors participate in earn a blue star every time they meet or exceed the target care goal in each of the nine reporting categories, including asthma care, breast cancer screenings, cardiovascular disease, childhood immunizations, controlling high blood pressure, colorectal screenings, diabetes care, influenza vaccinations, and mental health follow-up.

"It can be challenging for patients who are seeking information when choosing an HMO plan," says Dr. Robert H. Breyer, M.D., Board President, Resurrection Health Care Preferred. "This report, based on current standards for comprehensive care, helps inform patients participating in HMOs who are seeking to make an informed choice when changing medical plans and finding a doctor. If you're in an HMO, it's hard to beat the quality and convenience of a Resurrection Health Care Preferred (RHCP) site as your health care provider."
