Pitt, Carnegie Mellon and UPMC to host 'eds-meds' tours Sept. 21
The University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will be hosting 12 science and technology tours Sept. 21 in conjunction with the G20 Pittsburgh Summit Sept. 24-25. These tours of cutting-edge research and development will help explain how and why the "eds and meds" sector of Pittsburgh's economy has become a powerful driver of the region's success.
The Eds-Meds program will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial auditorium, 4141 Fifth Ave., Oakland, with remarks by Carnegie Mellon President Jared L. Cohon, Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg, and UPMC President and CEO Jeffrey A. Romoff. Tours will begin at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Tour sites are: Children's Hospital of UPMC, the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research (WISER), Biomedical Science Tower 3, McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Center for Global Health, the Sports Performance Complex, the Robotics Institute, the Entertainment Technology Center, the Pitt Green Tour, the Center for Energy, the Quality of Life Technology Center, and the Intelligent Workplace.
Tours are for summit delegates and members of the media. Media interested in attending must have a photo ID from the media outlet they represent.
