Now, free long term care services, both home and community based, are being offered to qualified veterans and their spouses by TheraCare Home Health and Staffing, LLC. Recently approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, TheraCare will offer free services in Mecklenburg, Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln counties in North Carolina and York, Chester, Lancaster, Aiken, Beaufort, Charleston, Cherokee, Greenville, Spartanburg and Union counties in South Carolina.
"Healthcare has our heart is not just a slogan at TheraCare, it's the way we do business everyday. We have been providing services for five years and are glad to be able to extend our services to men and women who have kept our freedoms. We welcome all vets from all services and look forward to working with them." said Deirdre Pippins, Administrator.
Services include assistance with daily living skills (ADL) such as bathing, feeding, transfers, dressing and ambulation, as well as Indirect Activities of Daily Living (IADL) such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, and home management. In addition to the new program for veterans, TheraCare also accepts Medicaid and private pay.
TheraCare opened in Gastonia in September 2004 and is celebrating its five-year anniversary with a variety of events each month over the coming year. There are two locations, one in Gastonia and one in Lake Wylie. On October 8th there will be an open house/anniversary party in Lake Wylie, and on October 14th there will be a flu clinic in the Lake Wyle office. To register for flu shots, call the Lake Wylie office.
