i365, Inc., A Seagate Company (NASDAQ: STX), today announced that Medical Business Service, Inc. has moved to i365’s EVault Plug-n-Protect appliance for its complete data protection and recovery capabilities. Headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida, and the largest privately owned patient billing services company for hospital-based physicians, MBS required a reliable, efficient data protection solution that would allow it to back up critical patient and business data across the company’s thirteen branches. MBS chose EVault Plug-n-Protect, an all-in-one backup and recovery appliance, for its ease-of-use, fast implementation, cost-effectiveness and dependability in backing up its essential data and ensuring fast and simple restores.
“Data availability and security are exceedingly important to our clients, and as a direct extension of their business it is critical that they can trust us implicitly with their data,” said Said Faisal, CIO with Medical Business Service, Inc. “We needed a platform that would help us to efficiently secure and restore that data, and with EVault software we gained not only that, but full management capabilities and the confidence that our turnaround time for recovery will be much lower if a hurricane or other disaster hits.”
Before moving to EVault software MBS relied exclusively on backup tapes that proved especially unwieldy each fall as hurricanes threatened the South Florida coast. Without data replication capabilities, the company was forced to rush IT resources from Miami to a cold site in Georgia where operations could temporarily be restored – a process that often took as long as 24 hours. With i365’s disk-based EVault solution, MBS is now able to replicate the backup data to the Georgia site and restore operations in under six hours. It is also able to perform very efficient backups over the network, achieve faster backup of its large quantities of document image files, reduce use of backup tapes and bolster the security of its clients’ data with added encryption.
MBS was drawn to the all-in-one software/hardware approach offered by EVault’s Plug-n-Protect backup and recovery appliance and was extremely impressed by its quick implementation process. Using the EVault solution, MBS has also received significant cost savings on tape-related transport and storage, while eliminating yearly tape hardware maintenance and related software license fees.
“For companies like MBS, it is critical that they are able to seamlessly replicate their data, while knowing that it is fully secured,” said Valerie Fawzi, senior director of product marketing with i365, A Seagate Company. “By choosing i365 MBS is receiving a technology that meets all their needs while providing them the utmost assurance that their data is safe and accessible.”
