Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ/exchange>: RURL), a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, has been awarded a new long-term contract to continue providing exclusive emergency ambulance services to the City of Youngstown, Ohio.
The four-year contract term began Sept. 1, 2009, following a unanimous vote of the Youngstown Board of Control. The contract is expected to generate approximately $3.8 million in net revenue annually.

Rural/Metro provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation services in the communities of Youngstown, Boardman Township, and Poland Township in Mahoning County. The Company employs 70 ambulance professionals in the area who provide more than 12,000 emergency and non-emergency medical transports annually.
