The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation will present the fourth annual Courage Awards to six former Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) patients. The awards are presented to six people this year for the first time. As well, donors Louise and John Miller will be recognized for their many years of service and devotion to those treated for spinal cord injury at the GRH.
"We hear such incredible stories when we ask for nominations," notes Dr. Ted Purcell, GRHF Board of Trustees Chair. "They are truly inspiring, so this year we are expanding the program to celebrate six extraordinary people whose ages range from 10 to 100."
Motivating others with their determination, Helen Lupul, Maeve Slater, Britteny Trimming, Arnold Mackowosky (Camrose, Alberta), Akira Peters (Whitehorse, Yukon), and Alice Mawdsley have overcome tremendous obstacles while on their rehabilitation journeys.
"We celebrate these Courage Award recipients and donors for their amazing achievements," says Dr. Ted Purcell, Chair of the GRHF Board of Trustees. "They remind all of us how one person's courage can provide encouragement for others. We also thank them for their willingness to share their rehabilitation stories."
Media are welcome to attend. Event details: Date/Time: Thursday, September 17, 2009, 6 - 7 p.m. Location: Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Bill Black Auditorium, Main Floor, 10230 111 Avenue
