International Medical Group®, Inc. (IMG®), a worldwide leader in designing, distributing and administering global health care benefits, signed a historic agreement in Ho Chi Minh City with the joint stock company, AAA Assurance Corporation of Vietnam. At a formal ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel, AAA Assurance Corporation agreed it will distribute one of IMG’s comprehensive insurance products to Vietnamese citizens, businesses and foreign nationals living in Vietnam. The agreement, according to Mr. Vu Tan Thanh, Vice Director General of VCCI, Vietnam, is the first between a U.S. Managing General Underwriter and a Vietnamese insurance company since the U.S. and Vietnam signed a trade agreement in 2001, indicating a significant milestone in the U.S.-Vietnamese relations.
“We are honored to be working with our new partners,” said Brian Barwick, Executive Vice President of IMG. “The depth of our product portfolio allows us to reach many in the international market, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to provide our products to a strong company like AAA Assurance Corporation.”
Joseph Brougher, President of IMG, added, “We find it exciting that the government and business leaders in Vietnam have embraced private medical insurance and free market principles to facilitate their health care needs. IMG is well-suited to expand in these markets and continue our history of exporting quality, private health insurance throughout the world.”
Under the agreement, AAA Assurance Corporation will offer IMG’s Global Medical Insurance® (GMI) product to the Vietnamese market. GMI is a long-term, worldwide medical insurance program that provides a full range of benefits suited for individuals and families, provides coverage 24 hours a day, and gives insureds the freedom to choose any doctor or hospital for treatment. Additionally, it offers Global Concierge and Assistance ServicesSM including embassy and consulate referrals, emergency cash transfers, legal referrals, emergency travel arrangements, prescription drug replacement assistance, bag tracking and lost passport/travel document assistance, among others.
The ceremony was held on September 16, 2009, and among the attendees were Mr. James W. Mayfield, Principal Commercial Officer, Consulate General of the U.S.; Mr. Nguyen Vu Tu, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam; Mr. Vu Tan Thanh, Vice General Secretary of VCCI, Vietnam; Mr. Joseph Brougher, President of IMG; Mr. Brian Barwick, Executive Vice President of IMG; and Mr. Jeff Nasser, Senior Vice President of International Marketing at IMG.
