Practice Fusion Inc., the fastest growing electronic health record community for physicians in the United States, today announced a partnership with BioReference Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:BRLI), the third largest full service laboratory in the country. The companies will collaborate to distribute Practice Fusion’s EHR to interested BioReference physicians and will integrate BioReference lab results into the Practice Fusion’s system.
“This is a landmark deal for the health IT sector; easily the largest electronic health record distribution agreement ever announced. BioReference considered a range of EHR vendors during their review and decided on Practice Fusion as the best possible choice,” said Ryan Howard, CEO of Practice Fusion. “With our cloud computing platform and Live in FiveTM set-up process, Practice Fusion is the only provider that can service a physician community this large.”
Practice Fusion’s EHR includes charting, e-prescribing, scheduling, integration with billing systems, along with free training and support. Live in Five gets physicians up and running on the system in five minutes, with only a computer and Web connection.
“BioReference is excited about this opportunity to help bring EHR technology to our physician customers’ offices. This is a valuable initiative that is essential to better healthcare in this country and consistent with our stated goal to provide better healthcare through better service and better technology.” said Charles T. Todd, SVP, BioReference. “We have developed an excellent working relationship with Practice Fusion and we have great confidence in their ability to provide an outstanding solution to our customers.”
BioReference Laboratories’ physicians will be able to request and receive patient lab results directly within Practice Fusion’s free electronic health record platform with no integration downtime. Results will be incorporated directly into a patient’s electronic record for easy reference and collaboration with colleagues. The BioReference partnership may effectively double the size of the Practice Fusion user community.
