Computable Genomix to release new online genomics research tool

Memphis-based Computable Genomix today announced it will launch a contest on Oct. 1, 2009, to coincide with the release of GeneIndexer, the company’s next-generation Web-based text-mining tool.

Publish or Perish will award a $10,000 grant to each of the first three researchers to publish a discovery made using the online genomics research tool GeneIndexer. Interested researchers should register for the contest by Dec. 31, 2009. In order to conduct their research, entrants will receive a free one-month subscription to GeneIndexer and will have the opportunity to participate in two training Webinars to be held Oct. 27 and Nov. 10, 2009, addressing the use of GeneIndexer for discoveries using high-throughput genomic data.

“Our mission is to help researchers more quickly and efficiently use Medline abstracts to make discoveries with high-throughput genomic data,” said Brad Silver, chief executive officer of Computable Genomix. “We thought Publish or Perish would be a fun way to introduce GeneIndexer to researchers so they could incorporate it into their research process.”

In addition to the grant, winners will be reimbursed for journal publication fees and will receive one free annual subscription to GeneIndexer.
