Nano Mask Inc (PINKSHEETS/exchange>: NANM) today announced that it has retained AlvaMed LLC, an FDA consulting firm specializing in medical devices, to prepare the company's latest generation disposable, anti-viral NanoMask for FDA approval.
"We are looking forward to working with AlvaMed's experienced team to assist us to obtain FDA approval in a timely manner," said Doug Heath, CEO of Nano Mask. "We are confident that AlvaMed will help us successfully navigate the FDA approval process -- including all necessary testing and application submission -- to obtain the regulatory approval necessary to enable the company to maximize its marketing efforts in the .so United States."
Separately, Nano Mask announced the appointment of David M. Mierkey as Director of Marketing. Previously, Mr. Mierkey was a partner at the Treetop Marketing Group (TMG) and the Ken Group which provide Strategic Market Planning, Key Account Management, Sales & Marketing Leadership, Retail Merchandising, New Business Development, Vendor Negotiations, Sales Training & Development, Product Incentives & Promotions, New Product Introduction and Customer Driven Management to a variety of industries. Prior to the TMG, he was the V.P. of Sales for Emergency Filtration Products, Inc. where he had direct management responsibility for all the Sales and Marketing.
Mr. Mierkey was also employed by Nova Information Services, a division of U.S. Bank, where he was V.P./Western Regional Manager, directing a multi-billion dollar payment processing company and had the responsibility to establish marketing and selling strategies for the forty western states. Challenged to plan and orchestrate an aggressive market expansion for the Community Bank Division, Mr. Mierkey successfully built business relationships with a 750-bank/branch network that involved referral, agent and processing institutions. The scope of his responsibilities included strategic planning, competitive assessment, market positioning, business development, new product introductions and client relationship management.
"I am happy to have David join our team," Doug Heath said. "I worked with David when I operated 2HD distributors, which marketed the early NanoMask, and was impressed with his enthusiasm and marketing knowledge. David has a valuable knowledge of our product and our target market, which he gained from his previous tenure with our company."
Mr. Heath added, "Nano Mask has been making good progress. With the surging demand for masks due to the swine flu outbreak, Nano Mask has accelerated its efforts to develop a safe, effective NanoMask and to bring it to market as effectively and rapidly as possible."
