Octomom ... Kate Gosselin ... the recent embryo mix-up case in Ohio ... all stories stemming from infertility treatments and making national headlines. But, much to the surprise of many, there are several types of infertility that are actually preventable - something starting to make headlines. That's why The American Fertility Association's infertility prevention education outreach program, Manicures & Martinis, continues to sweep the nation with its next stop in Beverly Hills.
More than 13% of the nation's 1,108,364 Chlamydia cases are in California. Chlamydia is one of the leading causes of preventable infertility. Several other STD's and exposures to certain types of plastics and environmental toxins have also been shown to harm a woman's reproductive health. The importance of bringing early education to young women in their early 20s to mid-30s is essential in creating fewer patients, not more. Currently there are 7.3 million American women facing some form of infertility.
The AFA's Manicures & Martinis infertility prevention education outreach program is held in trendy nail salons across the nation. Groups of 25-35 women are invited in for complimentary manicures and Fertilitinis(TM), The AFA's wildly popular version of an all-organic, alcohol-free martini. Guests will engage in a casual, Q&A-type-format conversation with a leading professional.
"The AFA has focused on bringing education to young women in 2009, and with great success. We've made it easy and comfortable to learn, by providing inviting, non-traditional spaces where education can take place. No harsh conference room lights. No hustle and bustle of an office building. But rather spaces where people feel immediately at home, and as a result, listen and share more readily," says Ken Mosesian, The AFA's Executive Director.
Manicures & Martinis Los Angles will be held November 10th at Bellacures Salon in Beverly Hills. Guy Ringler, MD, of California Fertility Partners will lead the conversation.
"I'm really looking forward to hosting LA's first Manicures & Martinis event for The American Fertility Association. This will be an informal talk about protecting and preserving your reproductive health, the fertility treatment options available should problems arise, and how to decide what's best for you," says Ringler.
