Sentillion bags contract from BTUH to implement its SSO solution

After demonstrating how quickly and easily its single sign-on (SSO) solution, expreSSO™, integrates with all types of healthcare applications, Sentillion today announced that it was awarded a contract with Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTUH). BTUH is currently deploying expreSSO in two clinical departments and will begin its enterprise deployment later this month.

BTUH is one of only 29 acute and specialist hospital trusts in England to receive the highest ‘double excellent’ score in a report published by the Healthcare Commission. During the past two years, the Trust has invested significant sums of money into modernisation and the expansion of its clinical infrastructure. As part of this effort, BTUH decided to implement Sentillion’s SSO solution to improve clinical workflow and information governance.

“Frankly, all the SSO solutions appear similar on paper and look good in product demonstrations,” said Steve Thorndyke, IT project manager, BTUH. “To ensure the suppliers we were considering could deliver the domain knowledge and technical expertise required to implement in a challenging, yet typical NHS environment, we conducted a Proof of Concept (POC). Our IT team was impressed with Sentillion’s technical knowledge, how easy it was to create application connectors and how they kept to the timescales which were set at the beginning of the POC.”

BTUH’s decision to go with Sentillion was validated when Steve Thorndyke attended Sentillion’s Clinical Connectivity Forum in May. “We were able to speak with many NHS Trust leaders on how they are using Sentillion to help strategically improve clinical workflow.”

“With the recent events in the National Programme, many NHS Trusts have made the choice to improve clinical workflow with their existing disparate systems now; whilst still being prepared for future developments at the national level,” stated John Gobron, Sentillion’s UK general manager. “Sentillion enables NHS Trusts to act now and be well positioned for whatever the future holds for the National Programme. Having the opportunity to demonstrate expreSSO in BTUH’s real environment allowed us to show the robustness of the solution and how quick and easy it is to deploy. We are pleased to add BTUH to our rapidly growing base of NHS customers.”
