Alliance of Women Filmmakers was established to empower women to create diverse screen images of women. The organization produces The Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival which showcases films made by women that educate and inform audiences of social, political and health issues impacting women globally. In addition to presenting the annual festival, Alliance of Women Filmmakers is proud to support other organizations that benefit women.
The Hair & Makeup Artist Network has teamed up with The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) this October to lift the spirits of women battling breast cancer. UBCF is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those afflicted with breast cancer as well as those families affected. UBCF financially supports a variety of programs dedicated to breast cancer screening and prevention, treatment and patient health and well-being.
HMAN has joined forces with the UBCF to provide a day of pampering for women afflicted with breast cancer. Each participant will receive a massage and a makeover. The event will take place on October 25, 2009 at the MotherShip Salon in Los Angeles. Both local and national media will be invited to attend. The day of pampering will be followed by a "Pink Carpet" Champagne Reception and proceeds from the reception will go to the UBCF.
