MediCom Worldwide, Inc., an accredited provider of continuing medical education for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses, announces a Friday Satellite Symposium on Multiple Myeloma Preceding the 51st ASH Annual Meeting entitled Unifying Practice Patterns Among Academic and Community Clinicians: Focus on Myeloma. This symposium will take place on December 4, 2009, from 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Grand Ballroom A. The symposium will be available via live web simulcast for those unable to attend.
There are common practices between community and academic oncologists in some areas of multiple myeloma, and differences between them in other areas. For example, there are gaps in practice patterns with regard to referral for stem cell transplantation and clinical trials. Academic and community practitioners show similar needs in terms of understanding treatment and management advances in multiple myeloma and incorporating them into their practices.
The symposium will address the educational needs identified by community and academic practitioners and allow them to share information regarding their different practice patterns in managing multiple myeloma. This will encourage a better understanding of each other, identify barriers to uniformity of practice, and work towards overcoming those barriers.
