Acne is a serious medical condition. More than 40 percent of mid-teens and adolescents have either acne or acne scarring requiring professional treatment by a dermatologist. Unfortunately, nationwide statistics show that only 11 percent of patients receive treatment.
Studies show that the psychosocial impact of acne can be debilitating and at times more traumatic than a terminal disease. However, thanks to the help of modern medicine, acute acne can be easily treated. Unfortunately, treatment is not available to all.
About Face Acne™ is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that assists underprivileged adolescents in the treatment of acne vulgaris. The foundation's mission is to fund and facilitate best-in-class therapy for indigent acne patients in order to improve their skin condition and prevent lifelong scarring. By providing these services, they hope to assist teens in achieving an "About Face" with their medical condition and most importantly their self-esteem.
