Driscoll Children's Hospital implements the CAREt bedside medication administration system

PatientSafe Solutions, Inc., formerly IntelliDOT(TM) Corporation, an industry expert in patient safety systems for hospitals, announced today an agreement to deploy its innovative bedside medication administration system, CAREt System, at Driscoll Children's Hospital, Corpus Christi, TX.

"Our commitment to the children we care for and their families is to provide them with the best and safest product for five rights medication administration," said Don Wenzler, Chief Patient Care Officer. "Implementing the CAREt System is simply the right thing to do."

"We are excited to partner with Driscoll Children's Hospital and help advance their commitment to patient safety," said Jim Sweeney, renowned healthcare entrepreneur and business leader, who joined PatientSafe Solutions as Chairman and CEO on April 3rd. After evaluating IntelliDOT's leading bedside patient safety expertise and its success in medication error prevention, Mr. Sweeney saw the company had the foundation, track record and clinical expertise to become healthcare's leader in patient safety. PatientSafe Solutions' decision to integrate IntelliDOT's industry-leading bedside patient safety products into the Patient Touch(TM) System is a testament to the company's success in the area of medication error prevention and a validation of its commitment to patient safety. PatientSafe Solutions will offer a patient-centric technology platform focused on protecting patients and improving the hospital's performance.

"We are committed to meeting and exceeding the National Patient Safety Goals and PatientSafe Solutions met our needs in a solution that allows us to offer good, efficient, safe care," explained Wenzler. "It is stated in the literature that medication errors are a common mistake so we want to be proactive in not wanting to repeat those same mistakes. It was important for us to visit another hospital that has the CAREt System installed to make sure that great results were being delivered and errors being avoided. We feel confident that the CAREt System is preventing harm to patients."
