Acuo Technologies, developers of high-performance medical image management software, data migration tools and services, today announced contracting with Allina Hospitals and Clinics for a new Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), providing the foundation of image storage across the Allina network of hospitals, clinics and affiliates.
The archiving solution is based on the Acuo Technologies DICOM Services Grid(TM) Software. The Acuo VNA archives medical images from sources throughout the Allina enterprise, enabling system-wide efficiencies, improving access to critical medical imaging, and increasing system reliability, resulting in lower total cost of ownership, quicker response time, and improved patient care.
Acuo Technologies' integrated medical imaging solution, the DICOM Services Grid, allows Allina to gain control of more than 100 terabytes of existing medical imaging data, as well as providing a flexible image management layer managing all future DICOM medical imaging content. The Acuo solution provides Allina a standards-based automated system with robust business continuity and eliminates the expense of multiple proprietary systems and storage platforms.
"We are extremely pleased to begin this relationship with one of the premier Healthcare Networks in the country," said Jeff Timbrook, CEO of Acuo Technologies. "We are looking forward to building on this relationship through ongoing collaboration with Allina's thought leaders. By leveraging the knowledge and shared vision of the Allina team, we will expand our dedication to continuous improvement to the industry leading image management, archiving, and data migration capabilities that are extensible and collaborative."
The solution selected by Allina will ensure that all patient studies are safely stored, and can be accessed from any Allina location in a consistent and reliable fashion. Allina will also be using the Acuo DICOM Assisted Migration (ADAM) software to move data from the existing proprietary archive into the Acuo vendor neutral archive, ensuring that Allina will be able to gain control of their data and never pay for a migration again. This standards based approach will enable Allina to grow the utilization of the Acuo archive without expensive and complex integrations to existing and future PACS.
"Allina is impressed with the scalability and flexibility of the Acuo software," added Jonathan Shoemaker, Allina's Information Services Manager. "Their ability to expand to meet our growing capacity and diverse workflow requirements is key to achieving our archiving strategy while also lowering our total cost of ownership."
