Humana introduces senior-friendly dance pad video game at Kissimmee Guidance Center

What: Humana (http://www.humana.com), Florida's largest Medicare health benefits provider, is introducing Dancetown (http://humanagames.com), a senior-friendly dance pad video game at its Kissimmee Guidance Center on Tues., Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.

The festive launch event, which is free and open to the public, will feature Dancetown demonstrations, prize drawings, refreshments, information on Humana's 2010 Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans, and a special seniors' exercise demonstration by the SilverSneakers(R) Fitness Program (http://www.silversneakers.com).

Dancetown, the Humana Games for Health (http://www.humanagames.com) senior-friendly dance pad video game designed especially for seniors, offers a fun physical and mental workout. Its visual graphics and music are tailored to a senior audience. Humana is installing Dancetown in six of its Guidance Centers across the country. Research has shown that Dancetown participants experience significant improvements in their ability to climb stairs and walk more than a mile, as well as reduced overall pain and lower depression levels.

Using a commercial-grade dance pad connected to a game console, players dance to their favorite songs while being guided by a system of scrolling arrows. For players who are unable to stand on their own, Dancetown is also offered through a hand-controlled system, which attaches to a game console. At the end of each song, the player's dashboard displays metrics such as calories burned, skill level and experience.

Dancetown also is available for purchase by businesses that cater to the senior population. When: Tues., Dec. 8, 1 - 3 p.m. Where: Humana Kissimmee Guidance Center 3189 Vine St., Kissimmee, FL On the Web: www.humana-medicare.com, http://espanol.humana.com/enes/, Humana Games for Health (http://humanagames.com)
