David H. Murdock announces the publication of Dole Nutrition Handbook

David H. Murdock, Chairman of Dole Food Company, is pleased to announce the publication of his latest book, The Dole Nutrition Handbook: What You Need to Eat and How to Live for a Longer, Healthier Life. The book is a comprehensive guide to the proper nutrition needed for optimal health in the here and now -- as well as extended longevity in later years. Mr. Murdock oversaw the creation of the book by the Dole Nutrition Institute, which he founded in 2001.

"If you want to learn how to lose weight, be healthy and live longer, then you've got to read this book," said David H. Murdock, Chairman of Dole Food Company. As a frequently sought-after expert on longevity, the 86-year-old Murdock wanted to share his health and nutrition secrets with the public. "This publication conveys the very latest scientific information from the top minds in our country in a way that will capture the imagination and inspire people to change the way they eat and live."

The book is divided into three sections. “Part 1: What You Need to Eat Every Day” provides detailed information on the various macronutrients, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals needed for bodily maintenance and disease prevention. In clear, easy-to-understand language, this section reveals some of the surprising and indeed newly discovered healthful aspects of nutrients like vitamin D, choline, bromelain, etc. More importantly, this section provides an extensive inventory of the nearly 100 superfoods that provide maximum nutrition with scientifically documented health benefits.

Part II: Total Health from Head to Toe” includes chapters dedicated to what you need for various aspects of health -- ranging from cardiovascular to pregnancy to immunity. These comprehensive chapters convey the most up-to-date advice in a fun and easily accessible format, including short interviews with some of the top nutrition experts of our time, drawn from leading universities like Duke and UNC, gathered at Murdock's North Carolina Research Campus.

“Part III: Slim Down, Shape Up with the Dole Diet and Fitness Plan” dramatically illustrates the health risks of excess weight, while offering up simple, practical tips for getting healthy. This section explodes some diet myths that keep people from reaping weight loss benefits, while suggesting a basic exercise routine aimed at improving both strength and aerobic fitness. Finally, the Dole Diet encompasses two weeks of meal plans and recipes that add up to 100% of everything you need to be healthy, naturally allowing people to lose weight by filling up on fruit and vegetables and avoiding deficiency-fueled cravings.

The Dole Nutrition Handbook constitutes a creative yet scientific follow-up to Mr. Murdock's first book, The Encyclopedia of Foods, created in partnership with the Mayo Clinic and UCLA. This new publication is certainly the most definitive guide created by the Dole Nutrition Institute, which has authored over a thousand articles through the award-winning Dole Nutrition News, enjoyed by 2.5 million subscribers, as well as various brochures, cookbooks, videos and children's materials such as the new Dole Superkids Activity Book.

Nice article about Mr. Murdock's book, but does not tell you where or how one can purchase the book. Went to Barnes & Noble, they said it had to be purchased on line.  Went to your page online, and still do not know how to purchase the book. Read about Mr. Murdock in Charlotte Business Journal, and his book. I am 20 minutes from his operation in Kannapolis.
