Florida doctor performs new, effective treatment for sinusitis

Local physician William Laskowski, MD has become the first doctor in Florida to perform an effective new treatment for sinusitis called FinESS® Sinus Treatment in an office setting. FinESS® (Entellus Medical, Maple Grove, MN) is a balloon sinuplasty option that is less-invasive than traditional sinus surgery and breaks the cycle of chronic or recurrent sinusitis with immediate relief and lasting results.

Dr. Laskowski is a Board Certified Ear, Nose and Throat – Head and Neck Surgeon with offices in Marco Island and Naples. He feels the FinESS® Sinus Treatment is an option that “allows us to offer patients a less-invasive sinus surgery that is effective and because it is less invasive, can be offered as an office procedure. This not only substantially reduces the procedural cost, but patients are in and out and back to normal activities in a very short period of time, often the same day, with minimal discomfort similar to that of a dental procedure”. He goes on to say, “as the treatment of sinusitis continues to evolve, FinESS® gives us the option of proceeding to the next step, namely, sinus surgery in the office.”

FinESS® balloon sinuplasty is effective and results in less pain, bleeding and recovery time for the patient and is performed in a relaxed outpatient or in-office setting. FinESS® does not require the removal of delicate bone and sinus tissue and may use local anesthetic with or without light sedation. In most cases, patients are back to their normal routine within hours. Published clinical study results demonstrate that FinESS® is an effective treatment that keeps treated sinuses open with significant quality of life improvements.
