NewHope Bariatrics Surgery Center receives AAAHC accreditation certificate

NewHope Bariatrics Surgery Center announced today that its new bariatric-focused surgery center in The Colony has received accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc.

“We work hard to earn our patients’ trust, and this accreditation offers additional assurance about the quality of care our center provides to future patients who might be considering surgery to treat obesity.”

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care – also known as AAAHC or the Accreditation Association – is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to help ambulatory health care surgery centers and other health care organizations improve the quality of care provided to patients.

This distinction not only recognizes that the center has met the most rigorous standards in the industry for patient care and safety, but it offers significant value to patients seeking weight-loss care. Health insurance providers recognize, and in many cases require, accreditation as a condition of coverage. With NewHope Bariatrics of Dallas now holding this accreditation, the center is excited to be able to help patients not only receive high quality care, but also gain access to insurance benefits to help them afford that care.

“We’re pleased that this prestigious organization recognizes the great care we provide our patients,” said Dr. Frank Felts, of NewHope Bariatrics. “We work hard to earn our patients’ trust, and this accreditation offers additional assurance about the quality of care our center provides to future patients who might be considering surgery to treat obesity.”

Dr. Felts is board certified and has performed more than 5,000 laparoscopic procedures, including over 1,700 Laparoscopic Banding procedures since October 2006, making him one of the most experienced physicians in the field. Dr. Felts also is one of the only surgeons in the DFW area to perform the ROSE procedure, a procedure without any incisions, for patients who have regained their weight following a prior gastric bypass surgery. And Dr. Felts is one of the nation’s first surgeons to adopt Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), which makes it possible to perform the gastric banding procedure through one incision rather than the four to six incisions usually required to complete gastric band procedures.

NewHope Bariatrics Surgery Center is located in the same building as Dr. Felts’ private practice: 3716 Standridge Dr., The Colony.

NewHope Bariatrics and Dr. Felts offer a comprehensive program, beginning with extensive education, pre-surgical consultation and financial counseling, and continuing through aftercare programs focused on long-term clinical support and access to a community of patients and health-care professionals. The entire program is designed to help people achieve their weight-loss goals and improve their quality of life. Free educational seminars are offered to the public, and free consultations are offered to individuals ready to take that next step. AAAHC Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an organization is able to measure the quality of its services and performance against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, as well as a thorough review by the Accreditation Association's surveyors, who themselves have extensive experience in the ambulatory health care environment.

The AAAHC accreditation certificate is a symbol that an organization is committed to providing high-quality health care and that it has demonstrated that commitment by measuring up to the Accreditation Association's high standards.
