Thanks to the efforts of Rite Aid associates and customers nationwide, Rite Aid raised more than $5.1 million in 2009 for Children's Miracle Network, an international, non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals. The money raised will fund life-saving medical care, research, education and outreach programs at 117 Children's Miracle Network hospitals in the communities Rite Aid serves.

The 2009 campaign marked Rite Aid’s 15th anniversary as a sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network. Since 1994, Rite Aid associates customers have raised over $40 million for pediatric hospitals through Children's Miracle Network.

“During one of the toughest fundraising years, Rite Aid increased its giving in 2009,” said Scott Burt, Children's Miracle Network president and CEO. “The dedication and commitment of Rite Aid associates, from top level executives to store associates, made it possible to raise an overwhelming $5.1 million for children’s hospitals.”
Rite Aid associates sold $1 paper Miracle Balloons with 100% of the proceeds going to the local Children's Miracle Network hospital in their community. In addition to selling balloons, Rite Aid associates held special events throughout the year to raise funds for the charity.
