Mark Trotter is the charismatic CEO of YoNaturals, the leader in natural and organic snack food vending. And he's led his feisty San Diego company on its own inspired mission to improve the diets of our nation's school age children.
“The will in Congress to unite around a popular quest -- one which clearly helps our kids -- should attract an unusual amount of cooperation within Congress”
Festively colored YoNaturals vending machines have consequently become a recognizable status symbol in schools across the country, as savvy principals are increasingly opting to embrace the healthy nutrition agenda -- rather than be seen by parents to ignore it.
And now the YoNaturals head thinks he sees a real sea change in commitment toward his favorite cause coming out of Washington, D.C.
"President Obama's recent executive order setting up a task force on childhood obesity, along with the worthy efforts of the first lady, may be signaling a national commitment to finally confront the childhood obesity epidemic," says Trotter. "And ironically, I think we stand to benefit from the controversies plaguing other of the administration's policy initiatives."
How might this be so?
"The will in Congress to unite around a popular quest -- one which clearly helps our kids -- should attract an unusual amount of cooperation within Congress," notes Trotter. "And I for one will never deign to question the vast amount of good that will certainly come of it."
Years of watching Washington's on-again, off-again commitment to winning the war against rising childhood obesity may have daunted a lesser man. But the always optimistic YoNaturals executive says he's newly confident we will see significant movement in the right direction in the coming months.
"Obesity is, after all, the problem recently identified by our surgeon general as the number one health issue facing America's kids," says Trotter.
YoNaturals offers over 600 reduced fat, salt and sugar vending entrees for its popular machines -- including many snacks that are top-sellers in the outside market place. Schools, hospitals, health clubs and business offices form the vanguard of YoNaturals' growing clientele across forty-seven states. Additionally, the company will shortly be introducing its own lower-priced, private label brands developed along the same healthy vending guidelines.
