CRi to distribute 3DHISTECH’s digital slide scanners and software applications in North America

Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi), a leader in pre-clinical and molecular imaging, announced today that it has signed exclusive agreements to distribute 3DHISTECH’s full suite of digital slide scanners and software applications in North America, and the development and distribution of next generation product offerings that address growing applications in digital pathology. These agreements expand CRi’s offerings in the rapidly growing digital pathology market.

“The partnership with CRi will accelerate our growth throughout North America”

“3DHISTECH’s superior slide scanning and analysis products are a clear fit with CRi’s focus on providing pathologists and researchers with the right tools to generate more in-depth and reliable information from tissue slides,” said George Abe, CRi’s president and CEO. “Digital pathology, to create, analyze, and manage digital images of glass microscope slides, has become an important approach to enhancing the quality and efficiency of pathology laboratory workflow. 3DHISTECH has developed an outstanding set of digital pathology products for the market.”

Abe added that digital pathology technologies are providing important infrastructure for emerging molecular diagnostic approaches based on disease-related biomarkers that CRi is also advancing with its optical imaging and analysis systems. CRi’s core technologies are transforming anatomic pathology from a morphology to a molecular-driven discipline.

3DHISTECH offers a broad line of digital pathology products, software and services, including high resolution, high throughput scanners, and software for slide viewing, quantitation, telemedicine, and image management. The company has built a leading position in digital pathology in Europe.

“The partnership with CRi will accelerate our growth throughout North America,” said Dr. Belá Molnár, CEO and founder of 3DHISTECH. “CRi’s market presence and reputation for quality provide a great complement to our product line, and its tissue imaging systems, which uniquely quantitate multiple biomarkers, provide many opportunities for synergies. Both companies are excited to announce this partnership coincident with the launch of new and improved 3DHISTECH scanner and software products for the North American market, and believe it is especially appropriate that our customers get a first look at these products at the prestigious 2010 USCAP Conference in Washington, DC.”
