PBCC supports passage of health care legislation

The PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) is encouraged by the United States House of Representatives' passing of a health care reform bill, to be signed into law by President Obama this week. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of the PBCC, women diagnosed with breast cancer in Pennsylvania who are underinsured or uninsured already have FREE Treatment available to them through the Commonwealth of PA's Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program (BCCPT).

While the PBCC is grateful that the BCCPT Program is available to the nearly 103,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year in PA, thanks to the passing of this new legislation health care coverage will be made available to most Americans.

"The passing of this legislation means greater access to care and coverage for those who need it most in this country," said Pat Halpin-Murphy, President and Founder, PBCC. "Since coverage will not take effect until 2014, we must continue to remind PA residents that FREE Treatment for breast cancer remains available until the full national health care coverage kicks in four years from now."
