EAU launches new website

The EAU recently launched its new website. Online efforts are continued under the same name: www.uroweb.org. But everything else has been redesigned in line with the latest internet trends - user-friendliness, interactivity, elegance. Prof. Manfred Wirth, EAU Executive Member Communication, says: "The EAU is a dynamic organisation. The new website reflects that; it gives an interactive platform to all EAU activities."

The realisation of this project was in the hands of Trentt BV, the IT division of the EAU. "We wanted to produce a uniform style of communication and information exchange so that anyone visiting the site immediately knew: this is the EAU", says Manfred Wirth.

Furthermore, there was a clear need for more interaction and information, which is continuously updated and, most importantly, better tailored to the users' needs. Ultimately, the plan is to offer each member individual, tailor-made Information. For now, EAU members can choose how and when they wish to be informed: via email, Twitter or RSS.

New set-up
What makes the new site stand out? The website is divided into nine different sections - About EAU, Meetings, Guidelines, Education, Research, News, Media, Nurses and Policy - plus 'My EAU'. There are numerous new features; a great deal of attention is paid to new media, such as videos and interactive technology. For example, any EAU member can follow CME accreditation courses online as part of the EAU Education Online programme.

Aside from the interactive features, the website structure has also changed.. It is more straightforward, easy to navigate and search. And any time a new news item is published on the EAU website, it is automatically also published on Twitter, RSS and sent via email to those who have indicated an interest in the subject.

Surgical videos (including the popular "Surgery in Motion" series), video interviews and podcasts will be organised into a streamlined searchable database and will have their own page on the website now.
Access to and user-friendliness of the EAU guidelines is greatly improved, as these are among the most highly valued sources of information from the EAU.

Elegance and structure
"The idea behind the new design is that any visitor should be able to see the entire website page at a glance and determine whether this is the information they are looking for. This means that the landing pages will not be cramped with text," says Edgar van Oostrum, Manager Digital Media at Trentt.

At the 25th Anniversary EAU Congress the new website is displayed in the internet corners and on the self-service computers.
