There has been a further delay in the much hyped Dr. Jayant Patel manslaughter case.
Dr. Patel had pleaded not guilty to the three cases of manslaughter and one case of grievous harm to four individuals who were under his case during his tenure as the Director of Surgery at a Bundaberg base hospital (2003 to 2005).
The court has been adjourned until next Tuesday after a legal issue brought to notice by the prosecutors and Patel’s legal team.
This legal matter came to notice this morning in the courtroom. Already six days of the trial has been lost due to jury and other legal issues.
This week evidence on the death of Mr. Phillips who was operated upon for throat cancer and died two days after the operation was heard.
