AbleNet to showcase assistive technology products at Heartland Home for Independent Living

AbleNet, Inc. is showcasing its newest and most popular access, environmental controls and communications products at the Heartland Home for Independent Living. The model home is being constructed as an all-accessible home to give conference attendees first-hand experience with the many innovative design features and the leading accessibility products that enhance independent and functional living for people with disabilities.

The company is also sponsoring a booth for the conference which runs from June 7 - 10th. This three day conference offers educational opportunities focused on the latest home medical equipment and insights from the leading experts in health care.

Additionally, V P of Global Business, Adam Wing, will be presenting at the 2010 Heartland Conference. The presentation will be on Wednesday, June 9th from 2:30 - 3:30 PM and is titled Easy-Tech Assistive Technology Solutions for Increased Quality of Life. Wing is a well know international speaker, writer and advocate for significantly improving the lives of those with a broad range of disabilities by leveraging assistive technology solutions. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Technology Access (ATA), a 20 year old non-profit organization dedicated to technology access for all.

AbleNet Products Being Showcased:

AbleNet will also be showcasing various communications devices, environmental control units and access products at the conference; all of which can be viewed in the Heartland Home of Independent Living display. These products include the following.

SiCare ECU Products convert spoken commands into signals which control numerous devices such at televisions, telephones, lights, electric beds, etc. AbleNet offers two different SiCare products based on the level of customization required.

For basic Infrared (IR) functionality the SiCare Light II offers simple programming with 15 pre-set menus of commands including television, bed, TV, satellite, light and more.

SiCare Standard adds fully customizable menus and Radio Frequency (RF) control to reach additional devices. This is ideal for users with multiple IR and RF devices in their home or need an unlimited number of functions at their control.

Possum Sero! is a telephone providing a loud speaker capability, remote control of the telephone and an answering machine with communication aid functions. The Sero! has 50 recordable phrases (each 60 seconds long) allowing people with partial or no voice to communicate crucial messages over the telephone.

Possum Primo! is an easy to use, affordable device providing remote control of the immediate environment to give independence and reassurance for users and caregivers. Primo! can be used as a simple system providing a limited number of functions or can be configured to control a comprehensive environmental control system, incorporating remote control telephones, intercoms and pc's as well as many other devices.

Primo's! functionality also enables PC access to the Internet, email, electronic media and desktop applications. Every Primo! system is tailored to meet the exact needs of each individual and can be readapted as users' needs change.

Possum Chin Switch is an innovative access tool that allows individuals with severe physical limitations to control the above devices by simply moving their chin. This switch uses a comfortable necklace design to position one, or several switches as-needed.
