Alzheimer's disease awareness event aims to raise over $100,000 for Alzheimer Society of Montreal

It's on a path full of history and collective memories that more than 500 walkers will gather, on Sunday, May 30th, for the fourth edition of the RONA Walk for Memories. This Alzheimer's disease awareness event, which will take place on the Quays of the Old Port and in the streets of the Old Montreal, aims to raise over $100,000 for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal!

By 8:30 a.m., participants are expected at the Place des vestiges, facing the Jacques-Cartier Pier. All are invited to dress up in blue and to unfurl like a wave of solidarity! Mrs Helen Fotopulos, City Councillor for the Côte-des-Neiges District and Member of the Executive Committee of the City of Montreal, serves as the Honorary President of the event. Mrs Marguerite Blais, Minister responsible for seniors, as well as Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal, will again support the event as in the past few years.

A Province-Wide Event

As a demonstration of support towards the 120,000 people living with the disease in Quebec, it is the whole province that will vibrate under the steps of thousands of walkers gathering for the occasion. In total, 20 Alzheimer Societies call the province residents to solidarity on a total of 40 walk sites.

For a third consecutive year, the Quays of the Old Port and the City of Montreal offer their support to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal for the organisation of this event. The Old Port of Montreal is full of memories for several people. This site represents a footprint, and is one of the guardians of the collective memory of Montreal.
