InGenesis president named finalist in business services category of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards

Veronica Edwards, president and CEO of InGenesis, Inc., is the only San Antonio finalist in the business services category of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards for the Houston and Gulf Coast Area.  Ernst & Young LLP recently announced 36 area finalists selected by a panel of independent judges.

InGenesis provides diversified healthcare consulting and staffing services for 54 client facilities globally.  Despite one of the nation's worst economic downturns, Edwards led InGenesis to nearly 500 percent growth from 2006 to 2009 and 580 percent growth from 2004 to 2007.  In 2009 the company and its joint ventures won $400 million in contract awards and a substantial share of a $1.27 billion multi-vendor contract to be implemented over five years.

"Being recognized for this award at any level affirms what we've worked so hard to achieve," Edwards said.  "We're especially honored when you consider how far InGenesis has come to compete with the caliber of this year's competition."

Today the company Edwards founded in 1998 has 22 internal corporate staff and more than 750 contract personnel.  She plans to increase capabilities with related lines such as scientific and technical staffing, and occupational health and wellness.  Edwards also is expanding InGenesis to provide a consulting division on disaster and pandemic preparedness.

Edwards has an MBA and is pursuing her doctorate with a concentration in human resources and organizational leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio.

All Houston and Gulf Coast Area winners are being judged for regional awards to be announced Thursday, June 24, at the Omni Houston Hotel.  Regional winners will go on to national judging.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Ernst & Young celebrates the award's 24th anniversary this year.  The program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 135 cities in 50 countries throughout the world.
