AHCA recognizes Advocat's long term care facilities with 2010 National Quality Awards

Advocat Inc. (Nasdaq:AVCA) today announced that five of its long term care facilities were recognized with 2010 National Quality Awards by the American Healthcare Association (AHCA).

The AHCA awards are based on the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award criteria and have three levels of awards for nursing homes. To be eligible to receive these national awards a facility must demonstrate at least a three year history of excellence in quality care, staff and residents' satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

In 2010, five of our facilities were recognized with the Bronze award:

  • Brookshire Healthcare – Huntsville, Alabama
  • Canterbury Health Care – Phenix City, Alabama
  • Hillcrest Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center – Luling, Texas
  • Normandy Terrace Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center – San Antonio, Texas
  • Oakmont Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center of Humble – Humble, Texas

"I am pleased to announce Advocat's continued recognition by the AHCA for our commitment to providing quality healthcare for our residents," noted William R. Council, III, Chief Executive Officer of Advocat. "With these awards, 38 of our 46 facilities have won National Quality Awards, with three winning Silver awards. We are very proud of the employees of these facilities for their commitment to quality performance."
